5/21 Basic Accounting and Finance for Entrepreneurs

Please join the IIT-Jules F. Knapp Entrepreneurship Center on May 21st for a lecture focusing on the basics of accounting and finance for entrepreneurs.

John Twombly teaches financial accounting and financial management in the Stuart School of Business at IIT. A seasoned and popular public speaker, Dr. Twombly delivers seminars for the Financial Analysts Federation throughout the United States and Canada. He has also presented seminars in accounting and finance for numerous corporations, including ABN-AMRO, Caterpillar, Avery International, and Reichhold Chemical.

Dr. Twombly will cover accounting and finance basics such as:
-Accounting v. Finance - What's the difference? Aren't they the same thing?
-Finance Fundamentals - What ratios should I use to monitor the health of my firm? Why?
-Accounting Fundamentals - How detailed do my books need to be? How current do they need to be?
-Accounting/Finance Tools for the Entrepreneur - Should I use Excel, Quicken, Quickbooks, or simply the back of an envelope? Why?
-Accounting Services - When do I need an accountant? How do I choose one?
